PRINCE2 Project Management

The PRINCE2 project management approach has been adopted and adapted for this project. PRINCE2 is designed to be used on any type of project in any environment. PRINCE2 contains a complete set of concepts and project management processes that are the minimum requirements for a properly run and managed project.

PRINCE2:

• Was established in 1989 by CCTA (now Office of Government Commerce OGC)
• Embodies proven and established best practice
• Is being continuously improved (National User Group)
• Is the NHS standard
• Has been designed to be flexible and scalable

Some of the key features of PRINCE2 is that it provides projects with:

• A controlled and organised start, middle and end
• Regular reviews of progress against plan and against business case
• The involvement of managers and stakeholders at the right time and place during the project
• Good communication channels between the project, project management, and the rest of the organisation.
