Welcome to The NICE Implementation Resource Tool Website…..This NICE Implementation Interactive Resource Tool website has been developed by the National Institute for Mental Health England's North West Regional Development Centre and a number of partner organisations to help healthcare professionals and their organisations implement National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE). In June 2002 NICE published ‘Core Interventions in the Treatment and Management of Schizophrenia in Primary and Secondary Care’. This guideline addresses the major treatments and services for adults of working age with schizophrenia. The guideline outlines what kind of treatment (medicines and psychological therapy) and services are of most help to people with schizophrenia, and whether treatment is given as an outpatient, by a community mental health team, as an inpatient or in any other mental health service; it also outlines what GPs can do to help. The NICE Implementation Resource Tool website contains a wide variety of information, knowledge and resources, and is intended for use by all health and social care professionals involved in the care of people that have a diagnosis of schizophrenia, as well as service users and carers. The main purpose in developing this interactive website is to assist in the effective implementation of NICE Guidance at the local level and to make the positive messages of recovery from psychosis accessible to all, showing how local mental health services support people in their own journey of recovery. With the launch of this NICE Implementation Tool Resource, NIMHE North West Regional Development Centre welcomes the opportunity to work with partner organisations in developing a greater understanding of the implementation issues in making the aspirations laid out within the NICE Guidance for Schizophrenia a reality.
